How to View P&L Analysis

Overview​

Analyze your profit and loss patterns to understand income sources and loss drivers.

Steps​

1. Go to Reports​

Navigate to Reports > P&L Analysis

2. View P&L Summary​

Top section shows:

  • Gross P&L: Before costs
  • Total Fees: Brokerage charges
  • Total Taxes: Tax paid
  • Net P&L: Final profit/loss
  • ROI %: Return on investment

3. Analyze P&L Breakdown​

By Period:

  • Daily P&L
  • Weekly totals
  • Monthly summary
  • Quarterly/Yearly

By Category:

  • Winning trades total
  • Losing trades total
  • Average win/loss
  • Win/loss ratio

4. View Cumulative P&L​

  • Equity curve chart
  • Running total
  • Peak and drawdown points
  • Recovery periods

P&L Components​

Gross P&L​

Total profit/loss before any costs:

  • Entry vs Exit price difference
  • Quantity multiplied
  • Pure trading result

Costs Breakdown​

Brokerage Fees:

  • Per trade charges
  • Total fees paid
  • % of P&L

Taxes:

  • GST on brokerage
  • STT (Securities Transaction Tax)
  • Other charges

Net P&L:

  • Gross P&L - All costs
  • Your actual profit

Profit Factor​

Key Metric​

Profit Factor = Total Wins ÷ Total Losses
  • Above 2.0: Excellent
  • 1.5-2.0: Good
  • 1.0-1.5: Needs improvement
  • Below 1.0: Losing overall

Time-Based Analysis​

  • Monthly trend
  • Improving or declining?
  • Seasonal patterns
  • Growth trajectory
