How to Create a Trading Strategy

Overview

Document and formalize your trading strategies in the Strategy Board for tracking and analysis.

Steps

1. Navigate to Strategy Board

  1. Click "Strategy Board" in sidebar
  2. Or go to main menu > "Strategy Board"

2. Create New Strategy

  1. Click "+ New Strategy" button
  2. Strategy creation form opens

3. Enter Strategy Details

Basic Information

  • Strategy Name: Descriptive name (e.g., "Breakout Trading", "Support Bounce")
  • Description: Brief overview of the strategy
  • Strategy Type: Intraday, Swing, Position, Scalping

Entry Rules

Document your entry criteria:

  • Technical setup required
  • Indicators to confirm
  • Price action signals
  • Volume requirements
  • Timeframe

Exit Rules

Define exit conditions:

  • Profit Target: Price target or %
  • Stop Loss: Risk management level
  • Trailing Stop: Dynamic stop rules
  • Time-Based Exit: Hold duration

Risk Management

  • Max Position Size: % of capital
  • Risk per Trade: Max loss allowed
  • Max Daily Trades: Trade limit
  • Max Daily Loss: Stop trading threshold

4. Add Strategy Checklist

Create pre-trade checklist:

  • Market condition suitable?
  • Setup confirmed?
  • Risk calculated?
  • Position sized correctly?
  • Exit plan ready?

5. Set Performance Goals

  • Win Rate Target: Expected %
  • Risk-Reward Ratio: Minimum R:R
  • Monthly Target: P&L goal
  • Max Drawdown: Acceptable loss

6. Save Strategy

  1. Click "Save Strategy"
  2. Strategy added to board
  3. Ready to track trades
