Track Daily Checklist Completion in TradeLyser
Completing items on your daily checklist is only half the habit—the other half is measuring whether you actually follow your rules across weeks and months. TradeLyser checklist completion tracking turns checkboxes into metrics: today’s percentage, rolling weekly and monthly rates, current streaks, and a calendar heat map that shows green, yellow, red, and gray days at a glance.
This guide explains how to open completion stats, interpret streaks honestly, use the heat map with the trading calendar, diagnose skipped items, and connect discipline data to track discipline score and journal review. URL: /docs/calendar-checklist/track-checklist-completion.
Why tracking completion beats guessing discipline
| Without metrics | With completion tracking |
|---|---|
| “I think I journal most days” | Monthly % shows 62% journal items checked |
| Streaks feel longer than they are | Counter resets when mandatory items skipped |
| Same item ignored for months | “Most skipped” report surfaces the line |
| Calendar colors confuse P&L vs process | Heat map separates checklist from green/red P&L |
Process metrics do not change P&L—they reveal whether you executed the process that should produce better outcomes over time. Serious Indian traders pair completion with P&L analysis after fees (configure fees tax).
Before you track completion
- Create the checklist — setup daily checklist.
- Customize items — customize checklist; remove noise, mark mandatory lines clearly.
- Complete at least one full day — complete daily checklist so stats have data.
- Confirm trades sync — sync broker trades so post-market items referencing trade count are meaningful.
Without setup, stats pages may show empty or zero streaks.
Open completion stats
Option A: Daily Checklist / Start My Day
- Sign in to TradeLyser.
- Open Start My Day or Daily Checklist from the sidebar (navigate sidebar).
- Locate the completion summary at the top—typically:
- Today: e.g. 100% or partial
- This week: rolling rate
- This month: rolling rate
- Current streak: consecutive full-completion days
Option B: Calendar view
- Open trading calendar.
- Use checklist overlay or day icons (green / yellow / red / gray per build).
- Click a day to see that date’s checklist status beside P&L.
Option C: Dashboard widget
- Customize dashboard.
- Add a Checklist or Discipline widget if available.
- Click through to full stats when the widget shows a low weekly %.
Mobile users can glance stats after mobile access; deep analysis is easier on desktop.
Understand each metric
| Metric | What it measures | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Today’s % | Items checked ÷ total today | Finish post-market block before 4:30 PM IST |
| Weekly rate | Last 7 days (or trading days) | Friday review: above 85%? |
| Monthly rate | Calendar month | Target 90%+ on mandatory items |
| Current streak | Consecutive 100% days | Motivation; do not chase streak over honesty |
| Most skipped items | Items you avoid | Edit or delete unrealistic rules |
| Best completion times | When you usually finish | Anchor habit (e.g. 4:15 PM daily) |
Partial completion counts in yellow on the heat map—see below.
Calendar heat map: green, yellow, red, gray
The visual history complements numbers:
| Color / state | Typical meaning |
|---|---|
| Green | 100% checklist complete for that date |
| Yellow | Partial—some mandatory or optional items open |
| Red | Incomplete—process day failed even if P&L was green |
| Gray | No trading / no checklist activity recorded |
Important: A green P&L day with red checklist is a common trap—you made money but skipped journal or risk review. A red P&L day with green checklist is a process win worth celebrating in create journal entry.

Streaks: build them without gaming
Streaks increment when you hit 100% on mandatory items (exact rules depend on your customize checklist configuration).
Do:
- Complete pre-market before 9:15 AM IST when possible.
- Finish post-market block after broker sync.
- Count no-trade days as streak candidates if you honestly complete process items and journal “stood aside.”
Do not:
- Check boxes without doing the work—poisons long-term insights.
- Add twenty easy items to inflate %.
- Skip journal on winning days only—skewed data hides revenge-trade patterns.
If a streak breaks, note why in the journal (travel, illness, platform outage) and start the next streak without deleting historical stats.
Analyze most-skipped items
- Open completion or discipline summary (wording varies by build).
- Find most skipped or lowest completion items.
- For each item, ask:
- Is it vague? (“Be disciplined”) → rewrite to an observable action.
- Is it wrong session? Intraday item you never trade → move to optional or delete.
- Is it blocked by tooling? “Verify sync” fails when broker down → fix trades not syncing first.
Edit in customize checklist. Re-evaluate after two weeks—skipped rate should drop or the item should be removed.
Weekly and monthly review ritual
Weekly (Friday or last trading day):
- Note weekly completion % and streak.
- Open calendar heat map for the week—any yellow clusters before expiry?
- Cross-check worst P&L day: was checklist complete? Open trades, rate trades, add notes.
- Set one process goal for next week (e.g. “journal every day”).
Monthly (first weekend):
- Target 90%+ monthly on mandatory items.
- Compare with track discipline score and log violations if you use discipline diary.
- Run generate reports or win rate analysis for the same month—did higher completion correlate with fewer rule breaks?
Document conclusions in notebook or journal compare views.
Indian session context
- Pre-market block — Aim to finish before 9:15 AM IST; news and gap risk land in this window.
- Post-market block — Start after 3:30 PM once sync broker trades catches CNC and F&O fills.
- Expiry Thursdays — Higher stress; completion rate often dips—watch yellow heat map cells and shorten checklist temporarily only if you also tighten risk rules.
- Holiday weeks — Gray calendar days are normal; streaks can continue on no-trade process days if you journal.
- Multiple brokers — Switch account scope before judging “sync complete” items (switch accounts).
Notifications and reminders
Optional nudges from notification preferences and notification preferences by category:
- Morning reminder for incomplete pre-market items.
- Evening digest for post-market block.
Too many alerts during the live session distract—prefer one evening reminder. See browser notifications for permission setup.
Mentors, mentees, and accountability
- Mentors on Pro view mentee data only within granted permissions—they do not complete a mentee’s checklist on their behalf.
- Mentees should report weekly % and streak to mentors if coaching includes process.
- End access when programs finish: revoke mentee access.
- Mentors: ask for calendar screenshots plus stats, never shared passwords.
Connect completion to other TradeLyser features
| Feature | Link |
|---|---|
| Trading calendar | Visual heat map + P&L colors |
| Complete daily checklist | Input that drives stats |
| Create journal entry | Often a mandatory post-market item |
| Track discipline score | Rule violations vs checklist adherence |
| Generate AI analytics | Better with consistent tagging after complete post-market |
| Equity curve | Outcome view; completion is process view |
Best practices
- One source of truth — Complete checklist in Start My Day, not half on paper and half in app.
- Fewer mandatory lines — Five enforced beats fifteen ignored.
- Align items with strategy — Each line should map to strategy board rules.
- Review skipped items monthly — Delete or rewrite chronic skips.
- Do not confuse streak with profitability — Long streaks during overtrading still hurt; use max drawdown for risk context.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Solution |
|---|---|
| Stats not updating | Complete or uncheck/recheck items; refresh; avoid strict private browsing |
| Streak reset unexpectedly | Timezone boundary (IST date); partial day ended before 100% |
| Always 0% | Run setup daily checklist |
| Heat map all gray | No checklist activity—complete one day fully |
| Weekly % seems wrong | Confirm which days count as “trading days” in your build |
| Mentee cannot see your streak | Expected—they track their own login’s checklist |

Frequently asked questions
Where do I track checklist completion in TradeLyser?
Open Start My Day, Daily Checklist, or the trading calendar completion summary. Stats usually appear at the top of the checklist view.
What is a good monthly completion rate?
Many traders target 90%+ on mandatory items. Adjust for travel or illness—honesty matters more than a perfect number.
Does checklist completion affect P&L?
No. Completion measures process; P&L measures market outcome.
What breaks a streak?
Typically any day that ends below 100% on mandatory items. Optional items may not break streaks depending on your customize checklist setup—test once.
Can I have a streak on no-trade days?
Yes, if you complete pre-market and post-market process items and journal why you did not trade.
What is the difference between yellow and red on the heat map?
Yellow is partial completion; red is incomplete. Exact icons vary by version.
How is this different from the discipline diary?
Checklist tracking is daily task completion; track discipline score focuses on rule violations and scores over time.
Will mentors see my completion stats?
Only if they have mentee access you granted and the product exposes that view—coordinate expectations directly.
Do reminders affect completion stats?
Reminders only nudge you to check items—they do not auto-complete tasks.
Can I reset stats for a new year?
Historical data usually persists; start fresh habits without needing a reset. Edit checklist items instead of deleting history.
Why does my calendar show green P&L but red checklist?
You traded profitably but skipped process items—common on euphoria days. Review complete daily checklist.
Does mobile update completion the same as desktop?
Yes when online—the same account state syncs after save. See mobile access.
