Revoke Mentee Access in TradeLyser
Revoking mentee access immediately ends a mentee’s ability to view your trades, dashboard, journal, and other shared sections in TradeLyser. Use this when coaching concludes, a student no longer needs visibility, you notice unexpected access, or you are cleaning up mentee permissions on a Pro plan.
Revocation is instant on the server; the mentee receives a notification and loses entry to your data on their next refresh. It does not delete your trades or their own account. You can grant mentee access again later with a fresh invite.
Before you revoke
Confirm you are acting on the correct person:
| Check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Email matches mentee | Avoid revoking the wrong active coach relationship |
| Status is Active | Pending invites use Cancel invite instead |
| Export expectations | Mentee may retain files they already downloaded if export was allowed |
| Coaching handoff | Save final notes in journal before access ends |
Revocation is appropriate for ended programs—not for temporary “pause.” Use permission edits (manage mentee permissions) to narrow scope first if you only want to hide journals or strategies.
When to revoke mentee access
- Coaching program ended — formal relationship complete
- Mentee inactive — no logins; reduce dormant exposure (view mentee activity)
- Security concern — unfamiliar device on mentee side; pair with your login alerts
- Wrong person invited — typo in email during grant access
- Quarterly access review — best practice for Pro traders with multiple mentees
Step-by-step: revoke access
Step 1: Open Mentee Access settings
- Sign in to TradeLyser as the account owner (mentor).
- Open Settings from the sidebar (navigate sidebar).
- Select Mentee Access.
You see the list of pending and active mentees with status, permissions summary, and last accessed (if shown).
Step 2: Find the mentee
Locate the row by name or email. Use search if the list is long.
| Status | Action available |
|---|---|
| Pending | Cancel invitation (mentee never had access) |
| Active | Revoke access |
| Expired | Re-invite or remove row |
Step 3: Revoke access
- Click the three-dot menu (⋮) on the mentee row.
- Select Revoke Access (or Remove mentee).
- Read the confirmation dialog—it states access ends immediately.
- Confirm Revoke (or Yes).
Step 4: Verify removal
After confirmation:
- Status changes to Revoked or the mentee disappears from active list.
- Mentee receives an email/in-app notice (depending on notification preferences).
- Mentee’s view of your data closes on refresh; they still see their own account data only.
Check view mentee activity for a final access timestamp if auditing.
What happens after revocation
Mentee experience
- Cannot open your trades, dashboard, reports, journal, strategies, or notes shared via mentee view.
- Can still use their personal TradeLyser account, imports, and subscriptions.
- May see a message that access was removed by the account owner.
Your experience
- Your data is unchanged—revoke is permission-only.
- Historical mentoring notes you wrote in your journal remain yours.
- Notification history may log the revocation event.
Data the mentee already exported
If you previously allowed export (policy-dependent), files saved on the mentee’s computer are outside TradeLyser control. Revoke prevents new viewing; it does not remote-delete local copies. For future grants, restrict permissions to view-only without export.
Revoke vs edit permissions
| Action | Use when |
|---|---|
| Edit permissions | Mentee should see less (e.g. hide journal) but stay active |
| Set expiry | Access should end on a future date automatically |
| Revoke | All access must stop now |
See manage mentee permissions for granular toggles before full revoke.
Re-granting access later
- Return to Settings → Mentee Access.
- Click Add Mentee or Grant Access.
- Enter email or share a new invite link (grant mentee access).
- Set permissions and duration.
- Mentee must accept again—previous revoked session does not auto-restore.
Use a new invite after long gaps so both parties confirm terms.
Security and compliance practices
- Review active mentees quarterly; revoke graduates promptly.
- Never share your TradeLyser password—mentees use their own login with view-only rights.
- Pair revocation with broker token rotation only if you suspect broader compromise—not routine coaching end.
- Coaches: document why access ended in your private notebook for your records.
Mentee-side FAQ for mentors to share
Tell mentees after revoke:
- They lose view-only visibility—not their subscription.
- They should stop using bookmarks to your shared views.
- For continued learning, they use their own import CSV or broker sync data.
Legal and coaching policy considerations
Revocation is a technical control, not a contract termination by itself. Coaching programs should still document:
- End date of mentorship in your own notebook
- Whether mentee may retain exported performance reports
- Confidentiality expectations after access ends
TradeLyser does not provide legal templates; consult your compliance advisor for regulated advisory contexts in India or abroad.
Bulk access review for multiple mentees
Pro mentors with several active students should schedule a monthly audit:
- Export mental inventory: who still needs access?
- Open Settings → Mentee Access sorted by Last accessed.
- Revoke anyone inactive beyond your threshold (e.g. 30 days).
- For active mentees, confirm permissions still match curriculum—use manage mentee permissions before full revoke.
Bulk revoke is still one row at a time—there is no multi-select in most builds; plan five minutes per cleanup session.
Communication template after revoke
Optional email to mentee (send from your coaching inbox):
Your view-only TradeLyser access to my account has ended as of [date]. Your personal TradeLyser account is unaffected. Save any notes you need from our final session. For questions about your own journaling setup, see TradeLyser docs or support@tradelyser.com.
Clear communication prevents support tickets mistaken for platform bugs.
Incident response: suspicious mentee activity
If view mentee activity shows odd login times:
- Revoke immediately.
- Rotate your TradeLyser password via reset forgotten password if you shared credentials against policy.
- Enable login alerts.
- Review broker API tokens separately—mentee access does not include broker login, but good hygiene is parallel.
Escalate to support@tradelyser.com with timestamps if you suspect platform abuse.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Solution |
|---|---|
| Revoke button greyed out | Refresh; confirm you are account owner, not mentee |
| Mentee still sees data | Ask mentee to hard refresh; clear cache; wait 1–2 minutes |
| Cannot find mentee | Filter Active vs All; search email |
| Revoked by mistake | Send new invite immediately |
| Pro feature missing | Upgrade or trial—compare plans |

When Indian mentors should revoke mentee access
Revoke when a cohort ends, a mentee upgrades to their own Pro account, or trust changes—not only after a dispute. Coaching programs tied to a single quarter (January–March FY review, or a 8-week challenge) should end with explicit revocation so live P&L and journal entries are not visible indefinitely. Before revoking, export any shared artifacts you still need via export filtered on your account—revocation stops future reads, not files already downloaded.
If the mentee traded from a shared family PC, revocation does not delete their screenshots; combine with a conversation about confidentiality. After revoke, scan view mentee activity one last time for last-seen timestamps, then enable login alerts if credentials were ever shared against policy. Re-invite only through a fresh grant mentee access flow with updated manage mentee permissions—do not assume old invites still work.

Frequently asked questions
How do I revoke mentee access in TradeLyser?
Go to Settings → Mentee Access, open the mentee’s menu, choose Revoke Access, and confirm.
Is revocation immediate?
Yes. Active sessions lose access on next page load or within a short sync interval.
Will revoking delete my trades?
No. Only the mentee’s permission to view your account is removed.
Does the mentee get notified?
Typically yes via email and/or in-app notification. Exact channels follow your notification settings.
Can a revoked mentee still see old screenshots they took?
Yes—screenshots are outside the platform. Revoke stops live data access.
What is the difference between cancel invite and revoke?
Cancel applies to Pending invites never accepted. Revoke applies to Active access.
Can I revoke one mentee but keep others?
Yes. Revocation is per mentee row.
Do I need Pro to revoke?
Mentee access is a Pro feature; revocation is available wherever granting is available.
Can mentees revoke their own view?
Mentees may leave or disconnect if the product offers that control; mentors can always revoke from Settings.
How do I audit last access before revoke?
Use view mentee activity for last seen timestamps.
Will revoke affect pending mentor comments on journal?
Mentees cannot add comments on your journal in view-only mode in most builds; revoke only removes read access.
Can support restore revoked access without a new invite?
Support cannot bypass your consent—send a fresh grant mentee access invite from Settings.
