How to Switch Between Dashboard Templates in TradeLyser

TradeLyser dashboard templates are saved layouts—each with its own widgets and arrangement. Switching templates changes what you see on the Dashboard instantly: intraday tiles for the session, a weekly review board on Friday, or a risk-focused grid when drawdown matters. You do not re-import trades or reconnect brokers when you switch; the same account data powers every template, while filters such as date range may still apply globally depending on your settings.

Switching is fast by design so you can match the screen to the task without entering edit mode. When you need to change what is on a template, use Customize your dashboard or Create a dashboard template. This guide covers the template selector, switching steps, sync behavior, multi-template workflows, and troubleshooting—including Dashboard not loading when the selector does not appear.

Templates in the TradeLyser workflow

ActivityTemplate you might use
Pre-marketShort KPIs, calendar, readiness
Market hoursIntraday P&L, open positions, time performance
Post-closeDaily performance, win rate, journal
WeekendMonthly performance, equity curve, strategy board
Mentor reviewSame as weekly plus report-friendly widgets

Create templates once, switch often. Populate new templates via Add widgets.

Prerequisites

RequirementNotes
At least two templates (for switching to matter)Create via template manager
Dashboard loadsFix loading before switching
Same login on all devicesTemplates follow your user account

Step 1: Open the Dashboard

  1. Sign in to TradeLyser.
  2. Go to Dashboard from the main navigation.
  3. Note the current template name displayed in the top bar (often a dropdown label).
  4. Confirm trades are synced if widgets look empty—switching templates does not fix missing data.

Step 2: Open the template selector

  1. Click the template dropdown (shows active template name, top-right area on most layouts).
  2. A list opens showing:
    • All saved templates
    • Checkmark or highlight on the active template
    • Optional actions (manage, create) depending on UI version
  3. If you only see one template, create another with Create dashboard template before switching becomes useful.

Step 3: Review available templates

Before you switch, read names and pick intentionally:

Template name styleIntended use
Time-based (Morning, EOD)Session phase
Style-based (Intraday, Swing)Holding period
Review-based (Weekly, Monthly)Analysis cadence

Avoid maintaining ten nearly identical templates—three to five distinct layouts are easier to manage.

Step 4: Select a different template

  1. Click the template you want to activate.
  2. The Dashboard reloads the layout for that template:
    • Widget set changes
    • Positions and sizes match that template’s saved layout
  3. Widgets begin loading data for current account and date filters.
  4. No need to click Save—switching is immediate.

You are now viewing the selected template until you switch again or another device session changes it (last-used template may persist per login).

Step 5: Verify data after switching

  1. Scan key widgets: P&L widget, win rate, main chart.
  2. If values look wrong, check filters—not the template name.
  3. Refresh the dashboard if widgets spin too long after switch.
  4. For deep numbers, open Generate reports with the same date range for consistency.

Step 6: Edit a template after switching

  1. Switch to the template you want to change.
  2. Click Edit Layout.
  3. Add, remove, or rearrange widgets.
  4. Save Layout—changes apply only to this template.
  5. Other templates remain as last saved.

Removing widgets: Remove widgets.

Multi-device and session behavior

TopicTypical behavior
Same account, second computerTemplates list syncs; select from dropdown
Last active templateOften remembered on next visit
Concurrent editsSave layout on one device; refresh other to avoid overwrite confusion
MobileMay support switch with simplified edit options

Switching vs customizing vs creating

ActionUse when
Switch templateChange entire pre-built layout in one click
Customize (edit + save)Tweak current template widgets
Create templateNew scenario needs separate saved layout
ReportsExport or table analysis, not dashboard tiles

Minimal (2 templates)

NameWidgets emphasis
Trading dayToday P&L, intraday chart, open positions
AnalysisMonthly performance, equity curve, win rate

Standard (3–4 templates)

Add Risk (drawdown, profit factor) and Journal (timeline, discipline).

Align monthly template with Monthly performance widget and Daily performance widget for bar-level versus curve-level views.

Troubleshooting

SymptomWhat to try
Dropdown missingRefresh; Dashboard not loading
Only one template listedCreate more in template manager
Switch does nothingHard refresh; clear cache; retry login
Widgets empty after switchDate range; account filter; sync
Layout wrong on one deviceSave layout on that device; refresh
Old template name still showingWait for load complete; click dropdown again

Best practices

  1. Name templates for the decision they support, not the day you built them.
  2. Switch at ritual times (open, lunch, close) to build habit.
  3. Do not duplicate fifteen templates—merge similar ones.
  4. Match filters to template purpose (today on intraday, MTD on review).
  5. Learn metrics on each template via Interpret widget metrics.

Frequently asked questions

Does switching templates change my trades?

No. Only the dashboard layout changes.

Will switching reset my date filter?

Usually filters persist globally; confirm header after switch if numbers look unexpected.

Can I switch templates on mobile?

If the mobile app shows the template dropdown, yes. Full widget editing may be limited on small screens.

How many templates should I keep?

Three to five active templates balance flexibility and maintenance.

What if I edit the wrong template?

Switch away without saving if still in edit mode; use Cancel. If saved, switch back and fix layout or duplicate template before big experiments.

Is there a keyboard shortcut to switch?

Depends on TradeLyser version; use dropdown if no shortcut is documented in-app.

Do templates affect alerts or email?

Generally no—notifications follow settings, not dashboard template.

Can I share a template with a mentor?

Mentors typically view permitted performance data under mentee access, not copy your widget file.

Why do two templates show different numbers with the same name widget?

Filters, widget variant (today vs period), or different widget types—not the template switch itself.

Example: intraday to weekend review

9:15 — Switch to Intraday template: Today’s P&L, intraday curve, recent trades. 15:30 — Switch to EOD template: Daily performance, win rate, journal timeline. Sunday — Switch to Monthly review template: Monthly performance, equity curve, strategy board; export via Generate reports. Same login, same trades—three contexts, zero rebuild.

Quick reference: switching templates

StepAction
1Open Dashboard
2Click template dropdown
3Select target template
4Verify widgets and filters
5Edit layout only if that template needs changes

Building your first two templates (walkthrough)

Template A – Live session: Start from empty or duplicate default. Add Today’s P&L, trade count, intraday or recent-trades widget, one small win rate. Save as Live. Template B – Review: Duplicate Live, remove intraday-specific tiles, add Monthly performance and Performance chart. Save as Review. Practice switching twice: Live before open, Review after close. Within a week the muscle memory replaces rebuilding layouts manually.

Template naming conventions for teams

If multiple traders share a desk, prefix templates with market or role (IDX-Live, OPT-Review) so screenshots in chat are unambiguous. TradeLyser templates remain per login unless your organization documents a standard layout for mentees to replicate manually.

Sync and switching: what updates automatically

Switching templates does not trigger a broker sync by itself. If you switch to EOD and numbers look stale, run your normal sync or refresh, then re-check P&L widget values. Templates remember layout; data freshness depends on import/sync timing. After large CSV imports, wait for processing to finish before judging a new template’s widgets.
