How to Set Default Brokerage Fees

Overview

Configure default brokerage charges that apply to all trades automatically.

Steps

1. Go to Fees Settings

Navigate to Settings > Fees & Tax

2. Locate Brokerage Section

Find "Default Brokerage" section

3. Choose Fee Type

Flat Fee:

  • Fixed amount per trade
  • Example: ₹20 per order
  • Simple calculation

Percentage Fee:

  • % of trade value
  • Example: 0.03% of turnover
  • Varies with size

Flat or Percentage (Whichever lower):

  • Common in Indian brokers
  • Example: ₹20 or 0.03%
  • Best of both

4. Enter Brokerage Rates

For Equity Intraday:

  • Flat: ₹20
  • Or Percentage: 0.03%

For Equity Delivery:

  • Flat: ₹0
  • Or Percentage: 0.5%

For F&O:

  • Flat: ₹20 per order
  • Or Percentage: 0.03%

5. Save Settings

Click "Save Default Brokerage"

Success!

Default brokerage fees configured.

Broker Examples

Zerodha

  • Equity Intraday: ₹20 or 0.03%
  • Equity Delivery: ₹0
  • F&O: ₹20 flat

Fyers

  • All Segments: ₹0 or 0.03%

Angel One

  • Equity: ₹20 or 0.25%
  • F&O: ₹20 or 0.25%

Upstox

  • Equity Intraday: ₹20 or 0.05%
  • Equity Delivery: ₹20 or 2.5%
  • F&O: ₹20 or 0.05%

How It Works

Automatic Application

When trade imported:

  1. System checks trade type
  2. Applies default brokerage
  3. Calculates total fees
  4. Computes net P&L

Manual Override

Can override per trade:

  • Edit specific trade
  • Update actual fees charged
  • Save changes
  • Recalculates P&L

Segment-Specific Defaults

Set Different Rates

Equity Section:

  • Intraday rate
  • Delivery rate

F&O Section:

  • Futures rate
  • Options rate (per lot)

Commodity/Currency:

  • Separate rates if traded

Zero Brokerage

Discount Brokers

Some brokers offer:

  • ₹0 delivery brokerage
  • ₹0 investments
  • Special plans

Set accordingly in settings.

Volume-Based Rates

If You Have

Some brokers:

  • Reduce rates at volume milestones
  • Monthly slab rates
  • VIP/Pro plans

Update settings when you hit new tier.

Verification

Check Against Statement

  1. Import 10-20 trades
  2. Generate report
  3. Compare with broker statement
  4. Verify total fees match
  5. Adjust if needed

  1. Go to Fees & Tax
  2. Update default rates
  3. Save
  4. Future trades use new rates
  5. Past trades unchanged

  • Each can have different fees
